Keith Lyttle
Traditional fiddle player and educator Keith Lyttle has been one of Northern Ireland’s most respected folk musicians for the past decade. Specialising in the Scottish approach to violin, he has worked closely with the Ulster Scots Agency’s educational schemes in recent years, teaching over 200 young fiddle players and forming significant community groups such as ‘The Markethill Ulster Scots Fiddlers’. A third generation musician, Keith began studying Traditional Fiddle with his Grandfather, himself a Traditional Fiddler. Some time later he attended Classical lessons in school but his love for the Traditional style had already started to blossom. As a child performer with ‘The Lyttle Family Band’ he worked throughout Ireland and later in the US, including shows in Nashville. The band still perform today and will be releasing their fourth album this year.
Keith also frequently appears in major film and television releases, both as a musician and as an actor. His credits include actors Richard Attenborough, Griff Rhys Jones, Elliot Gould, director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, The Beach), and Northern Ireland’s ‘Hole in the Wall Gang’ comedy group, with whom he appeared on BBC’s ‘Give My Head Peace’.
His recent work has included an appearence in the highly acclaimed Ulster Scots TV show Santer.
Currently Keith is working on his much over-due debut album release for Lyte Records, whilst maintaining a busy schedule performing and teaching.
